This hide is from a young mule deer doe harvested in southern NM. Tanned the old school way with brain matter and wood smoke. Smoked with cottonwood for a lighter coloration.
This is a nicely shaped hide and is very bouncy and soft. Passes a size ten beading needle like butter. The thickness of this hide is medium/thin. Sufficient for cutting water drum rounds but may be on the thinner side. This would be ideal material for beads/quills or any other fine crafting projects.
