This mule deer doe was harvested with a rifle in southern New Mexico. Tanned the old school way with brain matter and wood smoke. Smoked with Cottonwood. This is a nice medium thickness hide with appendages and partial tail intact.
The bottom 2/3’s of the hide would be good material for cutting water drum rounds. The upper spine area has a few weak spots that might not last as long for drumming.
Very soft — an ideal crafting hide. Passes the size ten needle test. 9 square feet total material.
