This mature cow elk was harvested with a rifle in the mountains of Southern NM. We tanned her out the old way with brain matter and wood smoke. Smoked with Cottonwood. Very, very soft for how thick it is. Passes the beading needle test with flying colors except for a small section on the upper spine where some scar tissue had built up over the course of the animal’s life.
